Good Stuff Sale

GoodStuff2016Jeannie2

Our 2017 Good Stuff Sale was held Saturday, September 16, during Excelsior's Apple Day celebration. Church members contributed  antiques, collectibles, vintage and like-new clothing, fashion accessories, jewelry, art and crafts, small furniture and home accents.

The annual fall Excelsior celebration always draws big crowds of people strolling the streets of our charming town, listening to music, buying goods from booths on Water Street, eating from the food trucks, and coming up to the church to shop!

Boat Cruise Fundraiser

lake2Our 2017 boat cruise fundraiser, always a big hit with the lucky people on board, was held September 17. Captain Hank (Graef) gave his usual informative and humorous narration. Music was provided by Lydia Holsten on keyboard, and snacks were brought by all the sailors. The SeaNote yacht provided an afternoon of fun and continued a lovely annual tradition.

Outdoor Services

OutdoorServiceThe "church on the hill" in Excelsior hosted three outdoor services this summer on the second Sundays of July and August and on Rally Day Sunday on September 10. Our June "outdoor" service had to be moved indoors because of threatening weather, but our spirits were sunny. Attendees shaded space if they wished and stayed for a cool drink, cookies, and conversation after the service. Services in 2017 included these (take a look at the fun we had):

We'll hope to continue this tradition in the summer of 2018!

Blessing of the Animals

Sunday, August 13, 10 a.m.

DogsWe celebrated our 4-legged friends and the families who love them in August on the south lawn of the church (to the left as you face the front door). It was enjoyable for all to enjoy the animals, and Bonnie McGinnis made a special tribute to and photos of their beloved golden retriever, Sandy, who had departed this earth recently before.Save

PAST EVENTS: Book-signing Event, July 20

Author Melinda Nelson and award-winning photographer Karen Melvin joined us Thursday evening, July 20, for an engaging presentation on their research for the beautifully illustrated book Boathouses of Lake Minnetonka.

At the event, a custom-made boat blanket (pictured here), which features a detailed monogram of Lake Minnetonka and its port communities, was raffled off. Proceeds will be given to the Minnetonka Tree House youth outreach program, an organization supported by the church.
